NRA COURSES 

Home Firearm Safety Course is a non-shooting course.  Students learn the basic firearm knowledge, skill and attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRAs three rules for safe gun handling, primary causes of firearms accidents, firearm parts, how to unload most firearms including; handguns, rifles and shotguns.  Also included is an explanation of different action types, ammunition components, cleaning, care, safe storage of firearms in the home, and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate.  Cost $40 for group of 5.

A course the entire family can take so everyone is familiar with any gun kept in the home.  Knowledge is power and safety. 

 

Basic Pistol or Rifle Shooting Course (two separate courses) Learn the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a handgun or rifle safely. This course is approximately 10-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols or various rifle actions. Students learn NRA rules for safe gun handling; parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from various positions; cleaning the firearm; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol or Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol or Rifle Shooting Student Examination, course completion certificate.  Cost $85/student for groups of 4 or 5. $170 per person for 2 or 3. $250 for one on one instruction.

Great course to take before you purchase your new handgun or rifle as the course is much like a buyers guide with hands on experience with a variety of gun models.

 

FIRST Steps Pistol or Rifle Orientation (two separate courses) Course designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific handgun or rifle action type for classes of four or fewer students. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific action type. Students will learn the NRAs rules for safe gun handling; the particular firearm model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the firearm; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol or Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate. Cost $150 for one on one instruction, $90/student for 2-3, $75/student with 4 or more, 5 person maximum.

This course is designed for the new purchaser of a handgun or rifle.  Accelerate your learning curve and bypass the bad habit development stage with this 3-4 hr course. 

 

Personal Protection in the Home Course  This course covers the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individuals right to self-defense. This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection in the Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA  Marksmanship Qualification booklet, course completion certificate.                                   Cost $100/student for group of 5, $175/person for couples, $275 for one on one instruction.

Have a gun in the house for personal protection?  This course explains in detail what's involved in defending yourself and loved ones in the home.  This course also covers many other aspects of home security. 

 

All NRA courses are taught with a maximum instructor/student ratio of 1:5.  Larger groups can be possible with additional instructors.  Private training is also available for any course offered, email for rates.
